The app
Woolshed does not send usage reports, crash reports or feedback anywhere. It keeps its settings, layouts and mods in ~/.config/woolshed on your computer, and your terminals in herdr-core on the machine they run on.
Woolshed connects to the internet only for these things:
- Updates. Installed release builds check
woolshed.devfor a newer version about once an hour and download it from there. The check is a plain request for a small file; it carries nothing about you or your work. - The terminal core. When you choose to install or update herdr-core, it downloads from its own project's servers at
releases.herdr.dev. - Things you ask for. Links you open, SSH machines you add, and the agents and programs you run, which talk to their own services under their own policies.
If you want to share usage numbers or feedback with someone running their own collector, you can point Woolshed at it with WOOLSHED_TELEMETRY_URL or WOOLSHED_FEEDBACK_URL. Without those, nothing is sent.
Woolshed Voice
Woolshed Voice is in development. With on-device recognition, your voice never leaves your Mac. If you choose a cloud engine, Woolshed sends your audio, and the text it needs to tidy, straight to the provider whose API key you entered, under that provider's terms. Woolshed's own servers never see it. What Woolshed learns from your corrections stays on your computer.
This website
woolshed.dev uses no cookies, analytics or third-party scripts. The web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, time, page and browser) for security and troubleshooting, and does not use them to track you.
Questions
Woolshed is open source, so every one of these claims can be checked in its code. It is a fork of Herdr; Herdr, Inc. is not involved in running Woolshed or this site.
